The unique subtropical climate of the Miami Metrozoo makes it a particularly educational place to visit. Kids will be fascinated as they read about how the Zoo survived being flattened by Hurricane Andrew in 1992, and how it has been rebuilt to be better than ever. On its 720 acres, the Zoo has created natural-looking habitats for animals from Africa, Asia, and Australia, and has plans to add another area designed specially for animals and plants of the tropical American rain forests.
